Services to Seniors partners with local, non-profit organizations to deliver community programs.
Coordinators recruit and place volunteers to assist older adults (55 +) and low income adults to maintain their independent living status. Services vary based on local need, but may include:
- Safety Checks
- Errands and deliveries
- Mobility equipment loans
- Completion of forms
- Free Income tax filing
- Friendly visiting
- Health fairs and newsletters
- Information and referral
- Emergency Response Information Kit (ERIK)
- Support Groups
- Translations
The following services are also provided as a fee-for-service :
- Lifeline installation and maintenance
- House cleaning and laundry - $17.00/hr

- Yard work and odd jobs
Transportation to appointments, outings, shopping, special events, etc. in which the driver utilizes his/her own vehicle.
Transportation service is only available for residents of the RM of DeSalaberry aged 55+ .
Clients will be responsible for paying mileage to the driver at the following rates:
- mileage calculated at $0.50/km (odometer starts upon client pick up and ends when client is returned to their original location)
- driver fees calculated at $5.00/hr from pick up to drop off
- any parking fees incurred throughout the day
- a meal for your driver if the trip is longer than 4 hours and occurs during regular mealtimes
Handi-van rental costs are as follows:
The following was approved by the Board of the St. Pierre/ De Salaberry Handi Transit Corporation
Travel rates for residents WITHIN the Village de St. Pierre / RM of De Salaberry boundaries:
- Mileage calculated at $0.50/km (odometer starts and ends where the van is housed in St. Malo)
- Driver fees calculated at $5.00/hr from pick up to drop off
- Any parking fees incurred throughout the day
- A meal for your driver if the trip is longer than 4 hours and occurs during regular mealtimes
Travel rates for residents OUTSIDE the Village of St.Pierre/RM of DeSalaberry boundaries:
- Mileage is calculated at $0.60/km (odometer starts and ends where vanis housed in St.Malo)
- Driver fees calculated at $15.00/hr (Clock starts when driver picks up the van from its location in St. Malo and stops when the van is returned to St.Malo)
- Outside residents are required to use one of the St.Pierre/Rm of DeSalaberry Handi-Transit Board's registered drivers.
- Any parking fees incurred throughout the day
- A meal for your driver if the trip is longer than 4 hours and occurs during regular mealtimes
Residents from Village de St. Pierre / Rm of De Salaberry are responsible to find their own driver or they can hire one of our registered drivers at the rate posted above. If providing their own driver, proof of a valid class 5 driver’s licence is mandatory and needs to be on file prior to van going out
The mini-handivan is not to be used as an ambulance.
Alcohol is prohibited in the van

Invoices will be mailed out to clients and can be paid in person at the
